Each year, the Beta of Texas chapter recognizes a student inductee for outstanding academic achievement during their time at Rice. As of 2017, an ad hoc committee of the General Membership reviews transcripts to select finalists, requests that each finalist submit a short essay about the value of the liberal arts, and then selects the winner on the basis of those submissions. The award includes an honorarium supported by a fund endowed by Rice alumnus and Phi Beta Kappa member Aubrey Farb, Class of 1942, and is presented at the to the student at the spring induction ceremony.
